Clare Dus
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of SSP long-time member and SSP Chair, Clare Dus, on August 30, 2023. Her contributions to our society were significant and her loss will be deeply felt.
Clare was a member, supporter and contributor to SSP since the very beginning. She led salons to ideate about the future of sensory science, shared her knowledge through presentations and conversations, and encouraged all of us to think differently. Her passion for sensory science and helping others learn about the field came through in all she did. The ability to connect people across her network made us all stronger and opened our minds to new ways of thinking.
Clare supported SSP through roles such as Strategic Planning and Nominations Chair, Chair-Elect and Chair. Additionally, she was integral to the planning and success of the 2012 SSP Conference in Jersey City, NJ. Clare was a true servant leader within SSP.
This is a tremendous loss to the sensory community as Clare touched so many of us as a mentor, teacher, ideator, and most of all a friend. We hope you can find a moment with us to reflect on and celebrate her immense impact to our field, our association, and the wider community. Rest in peace, dear friend.
