Dr. Stella Salisu Hickman, currently Vice President Sensory & Insights at Brisan Group, has over 20 plus years of experience in the flavor and fragrance industry.  Stella holds a Doctorate degree in Organization & Management, a Masters' degree in Biochemistry and a B.S. in Analytical Chemistry.

She started her career at International Flavor and Fragrances (IFF).  From there her career led her to sensory management at Coca-Cola, to building a global sensory program at Martek/DSM Nutritional Products, and an international opportunity as Global Sensory Director at McCain Foods in Toronto, ON.

Stella's love for fragrance led her to pursue a role as Senior Director of Fragrance Development with Belle Aire Creations where she developed winning fragrances and created programs associating instrumental correlations with different scents and malodors. 

Stella's strengths include building sensory programs, trained panels, facility infrastructure, insights that lead to product innovation, and correlating sensory findings to analytical instruments.

Stella has also held several roles in the sensory industry. Previously Stella served as the content lead of the IFT Sensory Division where she created platforms for relevant symposiums and recording secretary of ASTM E18, she is currently the Subcommittee Chair of Theory & Statistics of ASTM E-18.  In 2016, Stella served as conference sponsorship co-chair for SSP.  Stella currently serves as the professional development Member-at-large. In this role stella has planned virtual professional development seminars with an average of 70 plus members that generated revenue of which some proceeds were donated to the foundation Stella is also currently working with the conference chair to plan a professional development workshop at the upcoming SSP meeting this November.  Stella is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority incorporated and has held numerous roles in the local chapter of the organization, She has served as treasurer where she managed budgets of over $500,000, improved the financial state of the chapter as well as improved efficiency of the organization by transitioning from paper transactions to electronic transactions.  Stella is a member of Women in Flavor and Fragrances and Cosmetic Executive Women.  Stella often mentors' women for career opportunities.​
