​​​Dr. Alisa Doan is currently the Director of Product and Consumer Insights with Matrix Sciences, previously Contract Testing.  Throughout her 20 + years in sensory and consumer research, she has developed a passio​n in exploring alternative options for quantitative and qualitative consumer testing.  She enjoys mentoring others and collaborating on research within the sensory field.  She holds her Ph.D. in Human Ecology with an emphasis in Sensory Evaluation from Kansas State University, M.S. in Food Science from Kansas State University and her B.S. in Food Science from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Alisa is currently serving on co-chair for the Scientific Committee where she is planning the scientific program for the 2022 SSP Conference.  Her previous SSP involvement include being an inaugural Student Representative, Executive committee, Communications Member-at-Large, Conference Planning committee for several years and members of the Connectors and Membership committees.  The nomination for Strategic Planning and Nominations Committee chair is an honor.  Dr. Doan looks forward to the opportunity to continue advancing the sensory field by strengthening programs already established as a part of SSP and build future strategic direction for the society. 

My vision for SSP over the two year is to expand outreach opportunities, making SSP the first ‘stop’ that anyone has when they want or need sensory and consumer research guidance, information or have questions to be answered.  Through this, we will reignite the passion fire within our members to provide content and exposure that will allow sensory professionals of all levels to have information at their fingertips, which in turn will increase activity and visits to the SSP website and ensure everyone leaves with a sense of relief and a smile on their face.
