Example Article
Opinions differ on what makes the best kind of example. Some maintain that it should be very basic and short, whereas others would prefer to have the example cover all of the kinds of things someone is likely to need to know about.
A sensory science wiki article might be short and simple if it doesn’t contain any references or hyperlinks. It could even be extremely basic if it does not use any text formatting, such as bold text or italic text.
Typically, though, a wiki article might refer to other wiki articles, such as the main Help article, and may reference external web sites, such an Wikipedia’s page on Sensory analysis.
Also, many wiki articles will have a reference1, so contributors should be prepared to format them.
One very important concept is the use of categories. Categories help organize the wiki into topic areas. To place a wiki article into a category, one has to use special syntax. This syntax involves use the word “Category”, followed by a colon, and then the category name, all enclosed in a double set of opening and closing brackets.
More advanced topics would include such things as:
- formatting lists
- using graphics (images)
- formatting tables
References
1 Reference as defined in wiktionary.
