The society election for 2013-2014 officers is now open. Please log into your account and use the ‘2013 Ballot’ menu option (in the Members Only group) to vote. Voting is open now through the end of day, May 31, 2013.

Membership Renewal for 2013 now open!

It is time to renew your membership for the 2013 calendar year. The membership fee for 2013 is again $75. Most people will need to renew, but if you are at all unsure of your status, log into your account, and check the top center of the web page; it will either say “Your membership expires in X days” or, if you do not need to renew, it will say “Member through 2013”.

To renew your membership, select the “Membership” option and then “Renew” on the next web page, or use the following link:

You do not need to log into your account to renew; however, the email address you enter at the credit card site must match the address that we have on file for you.

Student awards from the 2012 conference

The Conference Scientific Committee is proud to announce the following award recipients from the 2012 Conference:

Winner of the Beverley Kroll Award for Outstanding Presentation that Develops or Expands a Method was Alissa Allen (top left) of Pennsylvania State University for her poster, “Bitterness of the non-nutritive sweetener Acesulfame Potassium varies with polymorphisms in TAS2R9, TAS2R31 and TAS2R38".

Winner of the Elaine Skinner Award for Outstanding Presentation of an Applied Topic was Cecile Bavay (right) of LUNAM Université for her poster, "The importance of methodological adaptation to get reliable results in sensory evaluation of product presenting biological variability: a case study on apple".

Winner of the Jean Caul Award for Outstanding Use of Scientific Principles in Research Design, Execution, and Interpretation was Bangde Li (bottom left) of Pennsylvania State University for his poster, “Optimization of coffee milk formulation using a mixture design”.

Winner of the General Award for Outstanding Presentation of Innovation was Nadia Byrnes (bottom center) of Pennsylvania State University for her poster, "Relationships between chemesthesis and personality factors".

Winner of SSP Founding Members Award for Outstanding Leadership through Sensory Research was Lydia J.R. Lawless (bottom right) of University of Arkansas for her poster, "Using Choice Exercises and Mixture Designs to Optimize Nutraceutical-rich Juice Based on Health-oriented and Sensory Attributes".

Updated: The absract deadline has been extended to April 16!

If you have any interest in presenting an oral talk, workshop, or a poster at the society’s 2012 conference, “Managing Complexity to Drive Clarity”, the call for papers PDF is now available. The call for papers contains details on the type of papers that will be accepted, the mechanism for submission, and deadlines.

Note that all abstract submissions must be made using the online submission form. Workshop proposals should be submitted by email.
