If you have any interest in presenting an oral talk, workshop, or a poster at the society’s 2012 conference, &#8220;Managing Complexity to Drive Clarity&#8221;, the call for papers PDF is now available. The call for papers contains details on the type of papers that will be accepted, the mechanism for submission, and deadlines. 

Note that all abstract submissions must be made using the online submission form. Workshop proposals should be submitted by email.</description>

The first, second, and third&#45;place winners are (1) Ellen Mahan, Pennsylvania State University, for Descriptive Skin Feel Analysis, (2) Ashley E Miller, Kansas State University, for The Sour&#45;Bitter Confusion, and (3) Christie Ledeker, Kansas State University, for Split Plot Design.

Universities having entries among the top 10 include Cornell University, Drexel University, and University of Minnesota.</description>

      <description>The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the results of the 2011 society election.&amp;nbsp;  Thanks to all of the members who participated in the voting process! 

The membership was privileged to have had a slate of candidates all of whom were highly qualified for office.&amp;nbsp; It made for a difficult choice.&amp;nbsp;  We wish to thank all candidates for generously agreeing to run and for their willingness to help lead the society.

The terms for the newly elected members of the Executive Committee terms start July 1.&amp;nbsp; The new officers are:

Winner of the Joel L. Sidel Award for Outstanding Presentation of Innovation was Alisa Doan of The Sensory Analysis Center, Kansas State University for her poster, “Predicting Success for New Flavors with Information that is Already Known.”



Winner of the Herbert Stone Award for Outstanding Presentation of Leadership was Ellen D. Mahan of Sensory Evaluation Center, Pennsylvania State University for her poster, “People Like Potato Juice and Chocolate Applesauce? The Importance of Using Nonsense Products in Online Panelist Screening Forms.”

Winner of the Elaine Skinner Award for Outstanding Presentation on an Applied Topic was Lydia Rice of the Sensory Evaluation Service Center, University of Arkansas for her talk, “Consumer&#45;based Optimization of Juice Blends using the ABCD Mixture Design Model.”


Winner of the Jean Caul Award for Outstanding Use of Scientific Principles in Research Design, Execution, and Interpretation was Dominique Sinopoli of Cornell University for her poster, “Does Loyalty Dictate Blind Preference?”

Winner of the Beverley Kroll Award for Outstanding Presentation that Develops or Expands a Method was Thierry Worch of OP&amp;amp;P Product Research for his talk, “Can the consumers express their needs? Use of Ideal Profiles to understand and validate what is in the consumers’ mind.”</description>
